Vietnam – Life Between Tradition and Change

Vietnam is a country I experience through its streets, people and everyday moments. From the constant movement of Ho Chi Minh City and the historic neighbourhoods of Hanoi to the changing coastline of Da Nang and the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An, every destination has its own rhythm.

Travelling through Vietnam with my camera, I am drawn to the contrasts: old buildings beside modern skylines, crowded markets, quiet riverside moments and the lives unfolding beyond the familiar tourist attractions.

These are my photographic stories from Vietnam — captured on location, frame by frame.

Ho Chi Minh City – Between Tradition and Modern Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City is a place of relentless movement. Motorbikes fill the streets, neon lights illuminate the night and modern skyscrapers rise above neighbourhoods where traditional life continues much as it has for generations.

From the busy intersections of District 1 and the nightlife of Bui Vien to the historic streets of Cholon and the Saigon River, my photographs document a city shaped by its past and constantly moving towards its future.

Hanoi – History, Street Life & Endless Motion

The Old Quarter, Local Life & Urban Photography

Hanoi is a city you have to experience on foot. In the Old Quarter, motorbikes weave through narrow streets, street kitchens take over the pavements and weathered colonial buildings stand alongside cafés, markets and family businesses.

My photography follows the rhythm of the city, from the early mornings around Hoan Kiem Lake to the crowded evenings of Ta Hien Beer Street, the extraordinary atmosphere of Train Street and the constant flow of life across Long Bien Bridge.

Da Nang – Between History and a Changing Skyline

Coastal Landscapes, Architecture & Documentary Photography

Da Nang brings together different sides of modern Vietnam. Its coastal skyline, the Dragon Bridge crossing the Han River and the mountain landscapes beyond the city stand in contrast to its long history as an important trading port.

My photographic journey takes me from the streets and riverfront to the Marble Mountains, the Golden Bridge and the surrounding coastline. Each photograph tells its own story, with the location, camera settings and decisions behind the frame forming part of the experience.

Hoi An – Where History Is Part of Everyday Life

Historic Streets, People & Life Along the Thu Bon River

Hoi An has a character of its own. Historic yellow houses, narrow streets, traditional shops and the Thu Bon River tell the story of a former trading port shaped by different cultures over centuries.

But what interests me most is the life taking place among these historic surroundings. Street vendors preparing food, people gathering outside small cafés, boats moving along the river and the changing atmosphere as lanterns illuminate the town after sunset.

Through my camera, I want to show Hoi An as a living place, not simply a beautiful historic destination.

Can Tho – Life Along the Mekong Delta

The Mekong Delta, Cai Rang Floating Market & Life on the Hau River

Southern Vietnam has a rhythm of its own. In Can Tho, life unfolds along the waterways of the Mekong Delta, where traditional wooden boats, floating markets and riverside communities remain closely connected to the river.

My photographic journey begins in the early morning at Cai Rang Floating Market. As the first light reaches the Hau River, boats loaded with fruit and vegetables gather on the water. Traders move between vessels, engines break the morning silence and everyday life continues much as it has for generations.

Through my lens, I want to capture more than the colourful activity of a floating market. It is the people, their daily routines and their relationship with the river that tell the story of this remarkable part of Vietnam.
